Sweetness: The Patisserie

Ducked off quickly to Sweetness, The Patisserie today and bought myself a pack of their marshmallows :')

They are heavenly.

Not kidding. If there are marshmallows in heaven, these would be the ones there.

They come in such nice little packaging as well! And I picked up one of the guides to the flavours and just staring at it makes my mouth water.

There were so many flavours and I'm so excited to try them all :')

$9.00/150g (one bag)
Expensive, I know, but if you haven't tried them before, I really suggest you try them at least once in your life.

They're so soft and fluffy and gentle on the mouth; they're quite sweet though, so not too much in one sitting.

Do you understand how hard it was to not eat the marshmallows while taking this photo?

IBO April Training Camp

Hey guys!

So I just came back from a short trip to Monash University in Melbourne for a training camp for the International Bio Olympiad and I managed to take a LOT more photos this time (also a lot more video footage, which I have yet to edit)

Taken on the trip to Melb! The clouds looked so nice so I couldn't resist.
Unfortunately it's just iPhone quality :(

It was really fun and I loved getting to know my Team a lot better :')

I reckon we work pretty well together. We all sort of knew each other, and most of us are pretty outgoing so we got along well, and we laughed a lot, which was super great :') Can't wait till the actual IBO because we got told that they recommend we don't study on the actual trip, so that means all study time can be diverted to FUN TIME AWW YEAH.

So I managed to bring my camera around with me more frequently (I also had a much bigger backpack LOL) and so took a few photos here and there!

Generally had a lot more spare time this trip round, since it was more relaxed and just a closer knit group.

A lot more photos, which aren't posted here for reasons, but maybe a video soon. Perhaps. 

It's our last time at this venue (last training before the actual IBO). I do see the Team and maybe 1 or 2 tutors/mentors at the Blazer Ceremony before then, but it was still bittersweet leaving Monash University for the last time.

Loved the camp and learned a satisfactory amount, and slept an incredibly unsatisfactory amount.

I'll miss the place.

Fishing Trip

Went for a fishing trip a while back and finally got round to uploading the photos!

Here are a few long-exposure shots that I took of the sunset.

Not the best sunset long-exposures I've taken (the one at Port Stevens is still by far my favourite, closely followed by my Hawkesbury River one), but long-exposures are always fun!

Biennale

It's been a while since I last posted, but I finally took my DSLR out and did something semi-interesting.

Went to Biennale with my friends MX and JT and it was a really nice day!

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to check out Cockatoo Island; I've been really busy these holidays and time has just flown by, so sadly no time to check that out, but I did manage to go to Carriageworks, the MCA and the Art Gallery.

Headed off to Carriageworks first thing in the morning.

Most of the works were rather different, and made you think a lot-- the more 'confrontational' form of works that question a lot of things in life, especially the videos there. There were a few really nice ones though!

I really liked the paintings (above), and the bright installation shown below.

Taken in one of the installations at Carriageworks; there seemed to be a big focus on mirrors in a lot of the works this year.

The building had a really nice feel about it; one of those really dingy sort of buildings which had a nice, isolated atmosphere about it.
It was a massive building, also. Maaaaaaassive.

The actual warehouse/building was also really nice; the entire area itself, actually, had a very unique atmosphere around it as a whole ((would be great for a photoshoot))

It was one of those places that looked really old and vintage, but had that really nice feel about it, especially when it was pretty deserted and there wasn't anyone else around.

We were about to leave, but thankfully, we spotted a giant discoball and that led us to the Exhibit: Romance was Born. Almost walked right past it, actually!

Later on we decided it would be nice just to walk around the area for a bit, and we stumbled across a really cool hipster clothing store.

They legit have the coolest things in there, and it's like one of those hideout stores that you don't think even exist anymore. ("There's more out the back" they said to us. "Just straight through that corridor", and it lead to like a hidden treasure trove of old vintage clothing that was pretty cheap, things like 'US NAVY' overalls and the like)

Hipster store, exactly as my brain would have imagined one to look like.

Afterwards, decided to head off to Chinatown and tried N2 for the first time.

Not gonna lie, was completely worth the money I paid. Would definitely go again, as a occasional splurge.

Was our first time, so we were all pretty lost. Actually went up to the counter and MX asked "How does this all work?" because we actually had zilch idea.

Later on we all split off and I thought it'd be nice to head off to the MCA since I figured I still had some time.

There's this one piece in the MCA that I really recommend anyone go check out (it's free entry, anyway, so if you're in the area make sure you go have a look). It's the one immediately on the right when you go up the stairs to the MCA and it's absolutely mind-blowing.

I actually just walked in and went 'woah.'

Unfortunately I didn't take any decent photos because it was really dark and I was, honestly, too overwhelmed by it. Legit wanted to just stay there for the rest of the day, but I had to leg it to the Art Gallery before 5pm.

The work here was less interactive, but none-the-less still great.

My brain was so tripped out by this sculpture.

There were also a few interactive displays, which reminded me of Yoko Ono's exhibition: War is Over

Double helix DNA made out of safety pins

This was also really interesting to look at.
It was an actual room with a huge bookshelf, lined with books that were 'unborrowed', loaned by the artist from a library.

I don't quite capture it as well as I expected in this photo, but there was a little tinted translucent box which had really cool reflections.

Overall, a really nice day and it felt nice to stimulate by right brain a bit more.

It was a good wind-down and I've been becoming more aware of the importance of EQ and training up your creativity and right-brain thinking recently, so it was a real nice break from it all.

Would have liked to have gone to Cockatoo Island, but unfortunately I just don't have the time to go, and there are a few other reasons which ought not to be discussed here. Perhaps at the next Biennale I'll get to go :)

GoPro

Purchased a GoPro!

Really excited because I've waited SO LONG for this moment and it arrived literally 5 minutes after I arrived home from school, after finishing my final exam :')

Took a few test shots and videos, but haven't quite taken too much right now to show.

I name it GoAmateur because I'm not a Pro (que cheesy comedy show laughter)

Had to watch two unboxing videos to figure out how to.

Really excited to use it :)
